Homemade Flatbread

Red Kettle Cook

These low calorie, high protein Greek yogurt pitas are the answer to your quick Flatbread needs! It only takes four ingredients to make them!

Homemade Flatbread is a Free Recipe from RedKettleCook.com!

Ingredients:

  • 3 c. all purpose flour
  • 3 3/4 tsp. baking powder
  • 3/4 tsp. salt, or to taste
  • 1 1/2 c. 0% or 2% Greek yogurt (or sour cream)
  • Lazy Tzatziki (optional dip)

 

Directions:

  1. In a large bowl whisk together the flour, baking powder & salt (to taste). Then stir in the yogurt (or sour cream) with a wooden spoon. Then using your hands form two large dough balls.
  2. Lightly flour a clean surface & slice each dough ball into four equal parts.
  3. Roll each piece into a thin circle or oval shape. You can use a round plate to outline the circle & then use a pizza cutter to cut away the edges. Take the extra pieces that you cut away & combine them together to form more pitas.
  4. Lightly drizzle a cast iron pan with olive oil & heat on medium to medium-high heat.
  5. Transfer one pita to the pan & cook for 2-3 minutes per side. Or until golden brown patches appear.
  6. Repeat with the remaining dough.
  7. These could also be cooked in an air fryer set on 400°F for 12-14 minutes, flipping the dough, halfway through.

 

Tips:

  • You can use this same recipe to make pizza crust or bagels!
  • You could use gluten free all purpose flour or almond flour (although you might have to add an egg or two) if you are gluten free!
