Description:

The Cooking Secrets book covers three diet plans, which are considered more lifestyle diets rather than crash diets for weight loss only. It is the belief that if we eat right then our body will balance to a level spot, more of what our ideal weight should be.

The three diets highlighted in this book are the Quinoa Diet, Superfoods Diet, and the Diabetic Diet. In addition, these diets are easily interchangeable. All the recipes are ones that help to make the body healthier and none of the recipes use any processed junk foods in the ingredients.

Also included are a comprehensive nutrition information for the diabetic diet along with a sample five day menu to help with menu planning.

Some of the recipes include:

  • Kale and White Bean Stew
  • Roasted Squash
  • Kale Salad
  • Chickpea and Sweet Potato Dip
  • Spinach Salad with Fruit and Almonds
  • Oatmeal Blueberry Pancakes
  • Blueberry, Chocolate and Walnut Parfait

Review

Quinoa, Superfoods and Diabetic recipes galore! Eating healthy isn’t a fad, it’s a way of life. And Cooking Secrets is the perfect accompaniment to any eating healthy cookbook collection. Oh my, do the recipes sound SO GOOD! I tested three different recipes in this cookbook, one from each of the three sections mentioned above. Since our garden is prolific this year, I went with a Superfoods recipe of “Stuffed Tomatoes.” Absolutely delicious! The pine nuts are the best part of this recipe – they “make” the tomato and rice stand out in a crowd. Yum! Then I made the “Tropical Breakfast Quinoa” from the Quinoa section. This time, it was the desiccated coconut that made all the difference in taking a bland breakfast up a notch. What a way to start a day! Finally, I tackled a diabetic recipe – “Asparagus with Mustard Sauce.” This was absolutely amazing! The flavors of the ingredients didn’t overpower any part of this dish. They each complimented the next until you ended up with a yearning for more! Bravo, Donna Butler, Bravo.
