Philly Cheesesteak Casserole
If you love the sub sandwich, then you will love this recipe! It has all of the same ingredients, except without the sub, so it’s low carb & keto friendly! Plus it is gluten free!
Ingredients:
- 2 lbs. ground beef
- 3 bell peppers, sliced (use a variety of colors for the flavors)
- 1 onion, sliced
- 4 oz. cream cheese
- 6-8 slices of provolone cheese
- 1/4 c. chicken broth
- Salt, to taste
- Pepper, to taste
- 1 tsp. Italian seasoning
- 1 tsp. smoked paprika
- 1 tsp. garlic powder
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until fully browned, breaking it up as it cooks. Then drain the excess fat off of it.
- Add the sliced onion & bell peppers to the skillet. Then cook them until they are softened, about 5-7 minutes.
- Season the mixture with salt (to taste), pepper (to taste), Italian seasoning, smoked paprika & garlic powder. Stir well to combine.
- Add the cream cheese to the skillet, mix well until melted & incorporated in the meat and veggies.
- Pour in the chicken broth & mix until everything is well combined.
- Transfer the mixture to a prepared casserole dish & spread evenly.
- Layer the provolone cheese slices on top of the mixture.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted & bubbly.
Tips:
- To customize the flavor, try adding mushrooms or jalapeño peppers for an extra kick.
- Serve with keto-friendly sides like pork rinds, celery sticks, or cucumber slices to add a crunch & compliment the dish!
