Sausage & Special Rice
This recipe has all of the comfort vibes & most ingredients are in the pantry! It is all about getting supper on the table without any stress & it will be devoured immediately!

Ingredients:
- 14 oz. smoked sausage, or smoked jalapeño sausage with cheddar cheese
- 1/4 c. salted butter
- 2 c. uncooked rice
- 8 oz. angel hair pasta, or thin spaghetti pasta
- 4 c. water
- 2 T. chicken bouillon
- 1 tsp. garlic powder
- 1 tsp. onion powder
- Salt & freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 8 oz. cheddar cheese, freshly grated
- 12 oz. frozen corn
Directions:
- Chop the sausage into bite-sized pieces.
- In a large skillet with a lid, melt the butter, over medium heat. Add the sausage, then cook it until it is golden & crispy for a few minutes. Then add the rice & break up the pasta adding it to the skillet.
- Let the rice & pasta toast for a few minutes. Or until they are slightly brown, which should take only 2-3 minutes.
- Now add the water, chicken bouillon, garlic powder & onion powder. Then season everything with salt & pepper (to taste).
- Cover with the lid, lower the temp to medium-low & let simmer for 15-20 minutes. Or until most of the liquid is absorbed.
- Open the lid & stir in the cheddar cheese. Then toss in the frozen corn. The heat from the rice will cook the frozen corn & it will keep the rice from getting gummy.
Pro Tip: Replace the rice, chicken bouillon, garlic powder, onion powder & pasta with 2 boxes (6.9 oz.) of Rice-a-Roni (or a similar product).
