Homemade Flour Tortillas
You will never go back to buying store bought again, not after eating these! They are simple to make & the taste is heavenly!
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 c. flour (or almond flour)
- 1 tsp. salt, or to taste
- 1/4 c. vegetable oil
- 1/2 – 1 c. water, boiling
Directions:
- In a bowl add the flour, salt (to taste) & vegetable oil. Mix all together by hands until it comes together in a ball.
- Add 1/2 c. of boiling water & mix by hands again. If the dough looks dry then add more boiling water. The dough should be soft & a little sticky.
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured cutting board, or the kitchen counter & knead it for 5 minutes. The dough should be smooth & should not stick to anything (hands, cutting board and/or counter). Resist the temptation to knead it more, if it is not necessary.
- Cover the dough & let it rest for 15-20 minutes.
- Then cut it into even pieces: Cut 8 pieces to make 8″ tortillas, cut it into 6 pieces for 10″ tortillas, cut it into 10 pieces for 6″ tortillas.
